A little history

A total of eight villages make up the town: The Herreras, La Hoya, Navalespino, The Paradilla, Robledondo, Santa María de la Alameda, Santa Maria and El Pimpollar Station, many of whom retain examples of mountain architecture. This structure recalls the origin of the town, comprising a set of farming villages, crossed the north by the Cañada Real Leonesa and south along the Vereda de la Cruz Verde.

It is documented that belonged to St. Mary of Sexmo Casarrubios, which in turn was part of the Community Land and Segovia from the twelfth century until in 1833 he joined the province of Madrid.

The contribution from the quarries of marble and wood from the construction Cepeda to the Monastery of El Escorial a decisive influence on its economic improvement in the sixteenth century and this was reflected in turn in the realization of one of its most significant buildings: the parish church of Our Lady of the Alameda, in Gothic style.

Well into the eighteenth century is the independence of Robledo de Chavela and almost a century later, in 1863, the railroad is a major economic boost, while beginning to emerge a core population around the station.
